Sydney Johansen, MS, NCC

Sydney is a Clinical Trainee at Counseling Services of Southern Minnesota. She graduated with a Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling, and a Bachelor of Science in Psychology with a Minor in Gender and Women’s Studies from Minnesota State University, Mankato. 

 

Sydney has worked with folks of many ages, primarily with the adolescent and adult populations. She has experience working with a variety of issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, substance use disorders, severe and persistent mental illness, as well as LGBTQ+ related issues. She utilizes strengths-based, cognitive behavioral, and person-centered approaches through a feminist lens. 

 

Sydney works together with clients to create a safe, supportive, and positive therapeutic relationship. In addition to her work within the CSSM office, Sydney also provides therapy services to elementary and high school students through the School-Linked Mental Health Services program. She has passed the National Clinical Mental Health Counselor Examination and is working toward licensure. Sydney is a safe-zone ally for LGBTQ+ individuals and families.
