Michelle graduated from Minnesota State University, Mankato with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Social Work and Minor in Psychology. Michelle’s background consists of interning with the Minnesota Department of Corrections, where she gained professional experience with individuals who were placed on felony probation and Drug Court. Michelle also interned at an adolescent inpatient drug and alcohol treatment center where she gained knowledge on co-occurring disorders.
While earning her Masters in Social Work from Minnesota State University, Mankato, Michelle worked at an inpatient adolescent treatment center for clients with problematic sexual behaviors and interned at an outpatient therapy clinic with adolescents adults, couples, and group therapy.
In May 2024, Michelle accepted a position as Director of the School Linked Mental Health Program at Counseling Services Of Southern Minnesota. Prior to this role, Michelle worked as the School Linked Mental Health Coordinator in 2021 and then became the Assistant Director of School Linked Mental Health Services in 2023. Michelle takes pride in establishing a positive partnership with the schools, CSSM and caregivers for the students/clients who are receiving services in the School Linked Mental Health.
Michelle is a MN-NASW Certified Supervisor and received her supervision training through the National Association of Social Work (NASW). Michelle enjoys providing support and encouragement to the clinical trainees and watching them grow their skills and practice.
Michelle is trained in the following: EMDR Therapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), TF-CBT (Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy), and MAP (Managing and Adapting Practices. Michelle is passionate about utilizing cognitive behvavioral therapy practices, implementing a strengths-based therapy approach and incorporating mindfulness into the therapy process.
Michelle strives to build a strong therapeutic relationship with her clients while advocating for client’s needs, encouraging the ability to make changes in their lives through, reflecting, processing and goal setting. Michelle provides outpatient therapy for adults, adolescents, couples and families.
